Willie sees things differently to everyone so what did he see at Leopardstown?
Patrick Mullins did an interview in the Irish Times the week before the 2015 Cheltenham Festival in which racing correspondent Brian O'Connor dived straight in and asked: "What's the secret to your father's success?" The answer intrigued me.
"He has a different way of thinking," he replied. "I see him every day, watching a horse do something obvious like one plus one equals two: except the next day, the same obvious thing happens, you presume two, and my dad will say three. He has that ability to see things differently."
Facile Vega wasn't wildly impressive in the Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle on Tuesday. He did what he had to do. Paul Townend described the performance as "good" and that seemed a fair assessment to me. There was nothing wrong with it, but you can still back him at evens for the Supreme. Had he won by 14 lengths rather than four he would probably have been slashed to 1-2.
