Harvey the Goat is becoming something of an emblem when it comes to the potential consequences of Brexit on the European racing industry.

His role as a one-time companion to this year's Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Sizing John has helped illustrate what could happen if nothing is done to continue the free movement of horses once Britain leaves the European Union.

Horse Racing Ireland chief executive Brian Kavanagh told the 51st International Conference of Horseracing Authorities in Paris on Monday that because of the tripartite agreement on horse movement between Britain, Ireland and France there was no issue with sending Sizing John to race at Cheltenham.
