The uncomfortable aspect of being at Cheltenham that you didn't see on ITV

What happened during the headline-grabbing novice chase was not the only strange thing to be seen at Cheltenham on Friday.

Around 20 minutes before Gin On Lime and My Drogo took part in their dramatic match, the stretch of turf from the final fence to the winning post had been much more heavily occupied. Indeed, it was chock full of horses, dogs and people, none of whom were directly connected to the contest about to take place.

They were there for the hunt parade, one of the traditional features of Cheltenham's annual Countryside Raceday, a fixture that, according to the welcome greeting in the racecard, "raises a huge amount of money for the Countryside Alliance and The County Air Ambulance HELP Appeal".
