Gavin Lynch's new Saturday column in the Racing Post is quickly proving an essential weekend read for ante-post punters, already flagging up several attractive angles in its opening two weeks.

One factor that the Upping The Ante co-star spoke about in his latest piece was his preference for focusing on novice events above other races when it comes to unearthing future Cheltenham Festival winners.

Given the youthful age profile of those scoring at the March bonanza, it makes sense to place some emphasis on races such as maiden hurdles. Particularly so in Ireland considering the Prestbury Cup scoreline last season.
