Where was Dettori? Where were the Brits? Irish Champions Weekend felt too Irish
To toast the brand new series of A Question of Sport, which inexplicably started back earlier this month without its ageless anchor Sue Barker, let's kick off with a quickfire round about one of the show's former captains.
Your time starts now: How many Irish tracks has Frankie Dettori ridden at in his 36-year career? How many of those are still standing? Since the inaugural Irish Champions Weekend in 2014, how many times has Dettori taken part? Finally, what was the name of Frankie's last Group 1 winner in Ireland?
Okay, pens down. Here are the answers. Dettori has ridden at just five Irish racecourses throughout his incomparable career. Phoenix Park and Tralee are no longer with us, though, so just three are still standing – the Curragh, Leopardstown and Killarney. He graced the last-named track for one night only in 2019.
