One of the very few positives to have hopefully emerged from the cessation of racing is a greater recognition of the contribution made by owners, without whom the sport would come to a grinding halt.

There has always been an alarming misconception that they are all wealthy, which is perhaps unsurprising when the top tier of racing is mostly occupied by horses owned by major international operations.

Still, it is important to remember that owners have not been exempt from the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, nor will they be when its effects are keenly felt in the coming months.
