We need an unequivocal champion on the Flat

While I welcome the adjustments to be made to the Flat weight-for-age (WFA) scale by the European Pattern Committee (EPC) in the middle-distance and staying races in particular, I maintain there should be at least one all-aged race in which allcomers carry the same weight, giving us an unequivocal champion.

In a sequence of letters to the Racing Post between January 2010 and October 2011 I argued that the WFA scale handed an unfair advantage to three-year-olds in middle-distance and staying races, particularly in the second half of the season.
