We must move on and make things work for those who invest in racing

Occasionally, but thankfully rarely in the Racing Post, an article appears of such futility that one can only ask: “What on earth was the point of that?”

Hitherto I have been an admirer of Alastair Down’s pieces, but his article (November 28) concerning the now Ladbrokes Trophy made me think he must have been desperate for something to write about.

He debates, badly, how difficult it will be for Ladbrokes to overcome the Hennessy mantle. Does he not realise it is his responsibility, along with all other parts of the media, to assist in the promotion of this great race, but under its new title.
