Trainers Ger Lyons and Roger Varian join John Reid and Nick Smith on the panel
Do you think Cracksman would have won an Arc had he run?
Padraig Hassett, BoyleSports odds compiler Yes. Enable managed to win the Arc this year despite not being at her best. If Cracksman had turned up in the same form as he showed on Saturday and had reasonable luck in running he would have taken some stopping. He destroyed Crystal Ocean and Capri on Saturday, both of whom can be tied in with Enable. Everything points to ‘yes’, but we will never know for sure.
Ger Lyons, trainer I think he probably would have won if he produced what he produced on Saturday. But he didn’t because John Gosden divided his forces so well and kept all his big owners happy. He should be running the government – he’d get the Brexit problem sorted.
John Reid, jockey and coach It’s all very well off his win on Saturday, but I think they chose the right race. He got his ground and it was awesome – every bit as good as last year. Frankie Dettori could ride any race he wanted around Ascot, but the Arc’s different and I think he will be happy as he got to ride him and Enable. It was great to see him celebrating halfway up the straight with the crowd going mad too.
