Towcester food festival a hit but prospects for racing next year look bleak

There were plenty of happy people at Towcester last weekend but that was for the Towcester food festival and the chances of the racecourse's name appearing on the 2020 fixture list do not look bright at this point.

Since going into administration last summer the course's fixtures have been held elsewhere or not at all and little has been heard from the course's new owner Fermor Land LLP since it bought the track's assets in November.

It is understood that while the Jockey Club did examine whether it could operate Towcester, it decided the figures did not add up and withdrew its interest.
