Time on his side: why this might be Presenting Percy's golden season

There was a lot to like about the performance of Presenting Percy in finishing third behind Min in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown a week ago. Last season was a frustrating one for the eight-year-old’s connections, with only two appearances on the track, and the John Durkan was his first start since he was reported to be lame after disappointing when favourite for the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Considering he has run over fences only seven times, Presenting Percy has time on his side and, if he stays right, a return to Cheltenham in March and another tilt at the Gold Cup could yield a better result this season.

That he started favourite for the 2019 running was in many ways surprising as he had not run over fences since landing the RSA Chase in 2018.
