This ratings rise for the Irish is hard to understand

This ratings rise for the Irish is hard to understand I am puzzled as to why there is such disparity between the British and Irish handicap ratings. To illustrate my point, I have been looking at the entries for this year’s Pertemps Final at Cheltenham.

As the race only allows a maximum of 24 runners and the average rating over the past five years has been 137, any British runner rated between 130-136 must be waiting with bated breath, especially if their Irish counterparts by comparison are rated below them.

However, when the weights were finally published for this year’s event I noticed the following increase in ratings by the British handicapper for the following Irish horses:
