I was interested but also ­disappointed to read in the Racing Post (June 11) of the apparently escalating dispute over prize-money between the ­Horsemen's Group and the ­Racecourse ­Association, including allegations of anti-competitive behaviour.

To declare my interests, I have a shares in seven horses managed by Thurloe Thoroughbreds and, through inheritance, a small shareholding in Pontefract racecourse. I am also a member at Epsom, Newmarket and of the Iron Stand at Ascot.

Wednesday was a big day. Pontefract re-opened, although as reported in the Post, possibly lost money on the day.
