This cannot keep happening - Oisin Murphy may now be in the last-chance saloon

A watershed moment may have been reached, both for Oisin Murphy and British horseracing.

Having written about Murphy's troubles in this column on the Monday after Champions Day, it is particularly disappointing to be doing so again now. To an extent there is an element of deja-vu about the current situation. Its magnitude, however, is far greater.

It was revealed on Thursday that Murphy has been served with multiple disciplinary charges by the BHA. One relates to failing an alcohol test at Newmarket in October. We knew that was coming and have also heard about the late-night incident that preceded it.
