Wednesday promised to be a long day for sports minister Tracey Crouch with representatives of racing and betting travelling to Westminster to hear more details of her plans for levy replacement.

They will have spent the previous five days going over the information they already have in their possession courtesy of the six-page letter they received from the minister on Friday afternoon.

The most important detail within that was the revelation she was "minded" to set the rate for the new system at ten per cent for both high street and online operators.
