With the jumps season now starting to excite, you'll be able to read plenty of articles on how to make a profit, with horses to follow and more general betting advice.

But they won't necessarily get to the nub of the forthcoming season like this survival package. Here are three things to do and four things not to do which should stand you in good stead for the months ahead.

Don't drink alcohol when you go racing, and certainly don't offer to get any rounds in. Use the money you'll save to buy luxury goods such as a Dyson vacuum cleaner or Samsung Flat Screen TV – or maybe even a small car.
