The Cross Country has run its race - it's time to axe it from Cheltenham

Cheltenham released a tweet from its Twitter account this week asking the following: "Can you name a Cheltenham Festival winner that no-one else remembers?"
The replies came thick and fast. Carrickboy. Flying Tiger. Une Artiste. Hawk High. Hawk who? Silver Jaro. Burntoakboy. Kelami. Spring Heeled.
Qualando and Silk Affair would be my own personal contributions to the game. Wait until you hear this: between them they ran 31 times after their 'famous' festival victories and neither of them managed to win another race of any sort anywhere. The Fred Winter, or Boodles as it is now known, has a lot to answer for, even allowing for the fact it has taken the trash out of the Triumph Hurdle.
