Teenage National winner has never seemed so far away - despite the lion's squeak

Next year brings the centenary of the last time the Grand National was won by a teenage racehorse. The thought occurred as I pondered this year's entries, trying to find the winner after the weights were published.

How many horses older than 12 will try to end that long losing run in April? The answer is one at the most. Blaklion is the sole representative, out of a total entry of 107.

Racing can always surprise you but a teenage National winner is not something I ever expect to see. What odds would a bookmaker quote about there being none in the next half-century? It would be nice to think I might actually collect on such a long-range bet but the odds would probably pay less than compound interest.
