Take your kids racing for free: now that's parenting made easy
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, so the good book says, which has always seemed like an unchristian attitude to me. Why he can't just giveth and leave it at that every now and then is a mystery, and quite possibly a major factor in the decline of the Church of England, although I have no data to back that up.
Anyway, at the age of 60, I believe I'm now eligible for a free bus pass; sadly, the supreme being has colluded with the Secretary of State for Transport to remove the last semblance of a working bus service from my village.
I also qualify for free prescriptions, but the Lord has taken away prostate function and hair. And to make matters worse, he's just given my daughter an interest in racing, at the same time as removing her right to visit racecourses for free as an under-18.
