Last week's column forecast there would this week be words of praise for the Ebor festival. My word, those words are merited.

York, one of the world's finest and friendliest racecourses, can seldom have staged a meeting of such intense quality and excitement. From start to finish it had us hooked, peaking on Friday with a Coolmore Nunthorpe full of sporting theatre.

It has been written on this page before, but it is worth repeating, that the revival of the elite sprinting scene has provided a major boost to Flat racing over the last two years.
