Spare a thought for Scotland as country lags behind at every stage

Even in the most perilous of situations, there's always someone worse off. That someone in domestic racing is Scotland. Mirroring the way the country's government has dealt with the coronavirus crisis, Scottish racing has lagged behind England at every step on the road to some sort of normality.

Racing restarted on June 1 but Scotland had to wait until June 22. In England owners were welcomed back on July 4 but not until July 10 in Scotland. Crowds could be back at Goodwood at the end of the month, but when will they return in Scotland?

That's anybody's guess and will ultimately be decided by the Scottish government, but it can't come soon enough for the country's five racecourses.
