Silver lining for racing from reshuffle

A week, so we are told, is a long time in politics and from racing's perspective a silver lining might have emerged from what had been a dark cloud caused by the recent upheaval in government.

David Cameron and George Osborne had been backers of British racing's efforts to overhaul its funding system so Cameron's decision to step down as prime minister and Osborne's sacking in the subsequent reshuffle last week were far from welcome from racing's perspective.

Theresa May may be a winning racehorse owner but there has been no indication she is at all interested in racing's problems.
