The United States Supreme Court has not fired the starting gun on a sports betting land rush, but interested parties might think about getting their wagons ready.

America's highest court heard oral evidence in the case of Christie v NCAA on Monday, a case that could lead to the legalisation of sports betting across the US.

The Christie in question is New Jersey's outgoing governor Chris Christie who wants legalisation, the NCAA is the National Collegiate Athletic Association, which opposes it. Other states and sports governing bodies are ranged behind the respective sides.
