Seizures are common - but now they're viewed through the prism of Jim Bolger
It was inevitable that the recent Department of Agriculture and Garda raid on a premises in County Kildare would give fresh impetus to the allegations first made by Jim Bolger more than a year ago.
Until such time as Bolger's claims are substantiated or convincingly refuted, any infraction involving illicit substances will be viewed through a prism fashioned by the veteran trainer.
Despite Tuesday's news that all the horses found at the premises where John Warwick has allegedly operated on a quasi-veterinary basis subsequently tested negative for prohibited substances, the Irish racing and breeding communities face the possibility that every infringement will gain a little more traction for the theory that drug use is endemic in the jurisdiction supervised by the IHRB. Subtle distinctions involving the semantics of veterinary regulation will cut little ice.
