Thank you to the Racing Post and Lee Mottershead for the highly informative report on racing’s rulers this last week (February 20-21).

As a regular racegoer, one para­graph from the special report stood out: “One alleged reason for instances of blockage is stakeholder representatives failing to see the bigger picture and acting in the interests of their own constituent group.”

Indeed the Racecourse Association, Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, Racehorse Owners Association and licensed personnel are so insular they fail to see the damage their decisions have done to racing in general and seemingly refuse to accept this is one of the main reasons why racecourse attendances are down.
