The news of Sarah Harrison's impending departure from the Gambling Commission came as a bolt from the blue last week.

Harrison had taken up the role only in October 2015 but under her leadership the industry regulator acquired the teeth that many observers thought it lacked. She will leave at the end of February for what is described as a senior role at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

While some have questioned the reasons for the move, Harrison spent 15 years with energy regulator Ofgem so it is perhaps a case of her returning home.
