The front page of Friday's Racing Post was a glorious sight to behold. To see Thistlecrack, Cue Card and Native River jumping the same fence alongside each other (with a little creative help from our picture desk) offered a wonderful reminder of what is to come. It cannot come soon enough.

The mere fact Colin Tizzard starts the season proper with three potential candidates for the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup highlights his elevation to jump racing's top table.

The fact Thistlecrack is favourite with some bookmakers for jumping's most coveted prize without yet having cleared a single fence in public underlines that the most thrilling long-distance hurdler many of us have seen is a talent at the furthest extremities of exciting.
