Retirement talk premature for national treasure Cue Card

Last Thursday, a day after Colin Tizzard had revealed a change of tack regarding riding arrangements for stable stalwart Cue Card, the question: ‘Was it the correct decision to replace Paddy Brennan?’ was posed on racingpost.com.

The debate was a healthy one and for every response backing the decision of Tizzard and owner Jean Bishop to hand the ride to Harry Cobden, there was another scoffing at the sacking of Brennan. However, they were not the only opinions to be heard.

Another viewpoint, argued by more than one individual, was that this was not the time to be changing rider, but instead the moment to retire Cue Card from active service.
