Rest assured there'll never be another Robert Hall
The racing world was surprised to learn of the retirement of Robert Hall from RTE television this week. Robert has been a significant personal influence on me, but it has only been in recent days that I have realised the sheer volume of people guided and inspired by his mercurial talent.
There are so many stories I could tell of the man’s kindness, decency and mischievousness; some are widely known, many will remain unknown, perhaps rightly so.
It is typical of his modesty that he wanted no fanfare. However, that is unlikely to happen given his contribution to Irish racing.
