Racing cannot be left in limbo much longer - but a breakthrough remains elusive

It is three months since the BHA board meeting at which proposals for a radical change in the way the governance of British racing is structured were made.

According to the summary board minutes of that November 23 meeting, BHA chair Annamarie Phelps "thanked everyone for their contribution at the members' presentation of their governance proposal. Next steps were agreed".

The idea put forward at that meeting was that, under a new system, representatives of Britain's racecourses and participant groups should hold sway when it came to commercial and non-regulatory decisions, with the BHA diminishing into a more regulatory role.
