In stark contrast to last year’s apocalyptic backdrop, it looks like the sun will shine on the Curragh when the Classic roadshow rolls into town this weekend.

The policy of dissuading potential racegoers from attending the headquarters of Irish racing has been abandoned and the venue’s layout is said to be taking shape in an aesthetic sense.

A large crowd would doubtless test comfort levels, but, given last year’s sustained acrimony, that’s a manageable headache the Curragh executive might prefer.
