Punters are being ignored - and whip review isn't even the worst example

It was a really excellent group of people who were assembled by the BHA to form the steering group that led to this week's whip review. I'd have no quarrel with the involvement of any of them and, in many individual cases, count myself as a fan of their work.

My objection is about who was left out. Answer: anyone whose main interest is betting.

Other areas of racing's biosphere were doubly represented, as if this was a kind of ark. There were two jockeys, two trainers, two representatives of bloodstock, two vets, two legislators, two racecourse employees. There was also an owner, a media worker and a senior member of stable staff.
