Punters need more clarity or inquiries could become as infuriating as VAR

It is not uncommon for me to become animated when the football is on but I went to a new level this weekend after a number of Premier League games were affected by controversial VAR decisions.

The technology is supposed to amend clear and obvious errors, but rules which arguably are not fit for purpose still need interpreting, and there is a lack of consistency.

My frustration rarely stems from the decision that has been made – unless it impacts Arsenal – but by the absence of clarity as often people are left to guess why a verdict has been reached or a check is taking place.
