Poorly old boy Subzero is the epitome of why horses make human lives better

On Thursday southern hemisphere racing fans will hope to celebrate the 31st birthday of a wonderful old horse. They can do no more than hope because the horse in question has been fighting for his life. It has been a very special life indeed.

Subzero has become an Australian hero, not primarily because he won the Melbourne Cup but because of all he has done in the many years that have followed.

Sea Of Class was not afforded the luxury of many years, losing her battle with cancer on Monday. She achieved a considerable amount, yet there was much more waiting to be achieved had fate not snatched her so early.
