After spending much of Monday perusing the ante-post Cheltenham Festival markets, the name of one man kept swirling inside my head for hours afterwards.

That man is, of course, Willie Mullins. By my count, Ireland's champion trainer has the outright or joint-favourite in 12 of the festival's 28 races – a staggering 43 per cent – with the likes of Allaho, Galopin Des Champs and Facile Vega all odds on for their respective targets.

Almost as intimidating as his team of favourites is the list of those who aren't. With Dysart Dynamo, Blue Lord, Klassical Dream and Al Boum Photo among others, the list of top-class horses with realistic chances of victory is almost endless.
