I'm sure I wasn't the only person feeling terribly sorry for Alexander Thorne at Taunton last week, but it wasn't long before I was also feeling a great deal of exasperation.

Not at Thorne, you understand. The poor jockey deserved nothing but sympathy after he fell victim to the new Covid-19 one-way system at Taunton and failed to weigh in having won on Twin Star.

Instead, what infuriated me was reading the reaction of those who decided to use the unfortunate incident to push an agenda I hoped wouldn't raise its ugly head again – namely, that ITV and other broadcasters should be banned from post-race interviews until after the jockeys have weighed in.
