Ouija Board lives on in bronze form - albeit without her splint

The death of a great horse is often followed by calls for some sort of monument in their memory, a fitting tribute to remarkable feats on the racecourse.

In the case of Ouija Board, the Oaks and dual Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner who died a fortnight ago at the age of 21, there was no need for a hastily commissioned statue given there are already three in Britain, including two in Newmarket.

The HQ pair are at either end of Newmarket with one at Ouija Board's owner-breeder Lord Derby's Stanley House Stud, where the Ed Dunlop-trained mare was foaled in 2001, and the other at New England Stud, run by Derby's brother Peter Stanley, where she was reared.
