It has been another chastening week for racing’s intrepid regulators on either side of the water.

Disappointingly, we learned of two BHA cases of alleged failed dope tests at the Cheltenham Festival involving horses trained by Stephen McConville and Alan King. The latter was resolved only on Thursday, while the McConville case still awaits a conclusion nearly five months on. The wheels of justice grind slowly.

Then there is the matter of Luke Comer’s running battles with the Turf Club, another unsavoury encounter that has seen the licence-holder granted a number of chances to get his house in order.
