'Nicky rallied us ' - charity starts at home for cricket kingpin Henderson

Nicky Henderson will soon set his sights on some of the sport's big prizes, but the leading jumps trainer has already sealed a much-desired victory this autumn by leading his team to back-to-back wins in the Retraining of Racehorses Racing to Cricket tournament.

Henderson's outfit, which included Champ's rider and devoted groom Satyan Subramani, recently edged out a team representing Mick Channon's yard at the Getty family's Wormsley estate in Buckinghamshire.

"The money raised succeeded all expectations," said Di Arbuthnot, chief executive of the charity, which seeks pathways into other equestrian disciplines once a horse's racing career is over.
