Nick Rust did his best - but when trying to run racing that is often not enough

Now it's somebody else's turn. Nick Rust's time as BHA chief executive is over. He pleased some and angered others, although some of his critics seem by nature to be angry folk. What is hard to deny is that Rust did his best.

Unfortunately, in the job Julie Harrington will take on in January, the office holder's best is often never going to be enough.

There is no doubt the BHA got things wrong as well as right during the Rust era. It is irrefutable that in many parts racing still needs shaking up.
