Native Trail's weight was felt worthy of note - so why are punters in the dark?

Saturday's 2,000 Guineas favourite Native Trail was the subject of some interesting comments after the Craven Stakes from Charlie Appleby.
The Godolphin trainer reported Native Trail was 2kg heavier than he had been in the Dewhurst at 542kg and said: "I've always said you need to go into a Guineas around the same weight you were in a Dewhurst."
Appleby is not the only trainer to have discussed the weight of a horse recently, with Clive Cox reporting that Mine's A Double was the heaviest horse he had ever trained in his Racing Post stable tour.
