A simple solution that would enable Irish Champions Weekend to really thrive

Last week, an assortment of Irish racing’s most astute minds convened on the Curragh for a brainstorm with one item on the agenda – Longines Irish Champions Weekend.

The objective was to generate discussion and ideas for how to reinvigorate the concept’s stagnating appeal.

That around 40 people were invited to the round table talks, which were similar in format to the FAI’s recent forum in that suggestions from each table were recorded by a Horse Racing Ireland representative who then relayed the contents during an open floor dialogue, is in itself an acknowledgement the weekend has lost some of its initial momentum.
