With Goodwood fast approaching it is worth giving a thought to a humble – but to my mind strangely priceless – artefact last seen leaning against a wall outside the farmhouse where the Duke of Richmond resides.

Goodwood House has a famously renowned collection of paintings but, as I am something of a cultural Palestine, my guidance on that front may be of limited value.

But I will give it my best shot so here is the Racing Post’s canter round the fabulously valuable Goodwood House hoard – with due deference to Tom Segal we shall call it Pricelesswise. Or in this case foolish.
