Everybody's catastrophic physical injury is unique to them and the resultant monumental challenges a deeply personal and lonely road.

For Freddy Tylicki the support of family and friends is vital and he also has the priceless resource of NHS care, which rises to such occasions of severe need.

But while doctors and specialist nursing care will do everything in their power to help on the physical side, the truceless battle ahead has to be fought and won in his head. Love and care from outside are essential but it is between his ears that, in the endless small hours, the psychological shot and shell will fall.
