Filter top mares to elite jumps races by applying ratings cap
Thanks goodness Gigginstown House Stud boss Michael O’Leary looks as if he is leaning towards running Apple’s Jade in the Unibet Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham next month.
The OLBG Mares’ Hurdle is one of Apple’s Jade’s alternative targets, but that race – which also takes place on the opening day of the festival – is not one of the more popular events at the meeting.
Were Apple’s Jade to run against her own sex rather than take on Buveur D’Air in the Champion then the calls for the Mares’ Hurdle’s position at the festival to be reviewed, which were aired when it appeared that race remained the likely target following her Irish Champion Hurdle success at Leopardstown, will only get louder.
