The old joke about having been in more stables than Mary and Joseph certainly applies to upcoming trainer Tom Clover, who has recently made a third move around central Newmarket in the space of just a year.

This time, however, Clover has come home earlier than expected after a recent chain of stable-hopping opened the door to him taking the reins at Kremlin House Stables on the Fordham Road. The 34-year-old is sure his latest move will be his last, especially as he is now in the domain of Gay Jarvis – his mother-in-law.

A former assistant to David Simcock, Clover had not long moved into Saville House stables on the Exeter Road when he received a call in the spring that would change his plans dramatically.
