Kim Bailey, James Best and Nigel Hawke join our expert panel
What did you make of the Tingle Creek Chase won by Altior?
Kim Bailey, trainer I thought it was the most exciting race I’ve watched for ages, especially with the pair going over the second-last together. Altior has shown on numerous occasions, particularly in the Champion Chase when he looked a beaten horse with a few furlongs to go, that he can change gears and keep going to the line. He’s got unbelievable depths of stamina and he’s our new superstar.
James Best, jockey It was a very impressive performance yet again from Altior. He’s just a class act. It was a top-class race and Altior proved how dominant he is in the two-mile division. It would take an awful lot to beat him in the Champion Chase in March.
Nigel Hawke, trainer It was a fantastic race. We were looking at running Speredek at one stage, but we couldn’t take on those two top horses. Un De Sceaux ran fantastically but got beaten by a better horse on the day. There was talk about Altior and the King George, which is an exciting thought and would be a great spectacle. The further he goes the better he seems to perform, and you cannot fault the performance.
