Jockey Club Racecourses concede the showpiece event in Haydock's Flat calendar, the Sprint Cup, will likely be staged without a sponsor on September 3 given no partner has been found to replace the currently vetoed Betfred.

Much more positively, the group has had more success in securing an even more important deal.

An announcement is expected soon on a a new sponsor for the King George VI Chase. Kempton, it can be revealed, is understood to have reached the stage of finalising arrangements with the organisation that will take over from previous longstanding partner William Hill, also now banned due to the authorised betting partner rules.
