Derby-winning jockey Ray Cochrane is to be sponsored to race on two wheels rather than four legs at the ripe old age of 63.

Cochrane, who announced in May that he was retiring as Frankie Dettori's agent, mentioned in passing when he stepped down from his role that it would allow him more time to spend on his relatively-new hobby – cyclo-cross.

Following a deal with Mick Ives, a legendary figure in the world of cycling, Cochrane will now race in the yellow and blue silks of Team Jewson MI Racing when the new cyclo-cross season starts in the autumn.
