Simon Claisse has been clerk of the course at Cheltenham for 18 years and it pains me to report that the strain is beginning to show. Sad to say he is gone at the game.

Hardly surprising as it is the very devil of a job because everyone else on the planet is convinced they could do it better.

In his first few seasons lots of trainers thought: "Ah, new clerk at Cheltenham, we'll soon bring him to heel." For which you can read bully the life out of him.
